Dr. Gary Dhillon

Gary grew up in New Zealand and spent his childhood surrounded by animals. He graduated from the Veterinary Medicine Program at Massey University, New Zealand in 2012. Upon graduation, he began working in mixed practice in rural New Zealand, which eventually piqued his interest in working dog medicine and surgery. He was also fortunate enough to work with the yellow-eyed penguin conservation effort while in New Zealand.

After catching the travel bug, he began traveling the world, stopping to practice as a veterinarian in Australia and volunteer for Rabies prevention programs in Asia. After a few years of working in Vancouver, he met his future wife and made his ultimate move to her hometown, Edmonton.

Gary has extensive experience in emergency medicine and surgery, as well as general practice. Additionally, he has served as the Medical Director for the VCA General Veterinary Hospital here in Edmonton. He continues to receive training in ultrasound and surgical practice. His full professional profile can be found here.

Outside of work, you can find Gary hiking, traveling, reading or spending time with his 2 adopted fluffballs, Momo and Inky. He is a committed Edmontonian and looks forward to meeting everyone at the new practice.

Kelsey RVT

I’m Kelsey, a Veterinary Technician joining the Gateway Veterinary Centre team.

My journey in animal care commenced in 2015 at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon, where I honed my skills. Since then, I’ve accumulated over nine years of experience in the veterinary field.

Relocating to Edmonton, Alberta, in 2021, I bring with me a deep-seated commitment to animal welfare. At home, I share my life with two miniature dachshunds, Charlie and Odie, who serve as constant reminders of the importance of our work.

While my expertise encompasses different facets of veterinary care, my passion lies in exotic species and animal nutrition, my approach to animal care is grounded in professionalism, dedication, and a genuine passion for improving the well-being of our animal companions.

Vira

I’m Vira, Practice Manager at Gateway Veterinary Centre.

Originally from Ukraine. I studied Public Relations at university before moving to Canada in 2022.

I have never thought – I would end up working in a vet clinic, but I absolutely love it! I like animals so much, so my responsibility is to ensure they receive the best care possible.

I am focused on teamwork and building strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

When I have free time, I like going outdoors, running, hiking, camping, or just enjoying the fresh air. I am all about that outdoor life.

Savannah

Hi! My name is Savannah, and I’m one of the receptionists at Gateway Veterinary Centre. I love people, and interacting with the animals and clients is one of my favorite parts of this job! I’ve had animals, specifically dogs my whole life. But I’ve also had horses, chickens, pigs, birds etc. My love for animals is part of who I am, and I strive to make a difference in all animals’ lives. My family owns a dog named Maverick and he is my running buddy, but I owned my own chihuahua for 15 years (featured in the picture) She was my best friend and we did everything together! From hiking, kayaking, movie nights, any kind of adventure she went everywhere with me.

I don’t have any animals of my own at the moment because of school. But I hope to get another dog in the near future! Outside of work you can find me in the gym, running long distances, playing volleyball, and hanging out with friends! I love the active lifestyle, my fur babies and I’m so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful team!

Valeriia Odulianova

I’m currently pursuing a degree in Animal Health at the University of Alberta. Since the summer of 2022, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the skilled professionals at Gateway Veterinary Center. This experience has further fueled my love for the veterinary field, where interactions with animals and the fast-paced environment continuously inspire me to grow and learn. Outside of my studies and work, you’ll often find me volunteering or spending time with friends and family. At home, I’m lucky to have an English Cocker Spaniel named Richard, who brings me endless joy.

Audrey Lee-Thorne

My name’s Audrey! I’ve been working with the Gateway team as an assistant since Sept. 2021!

I’ve wanted to work in the veterinary field ever since I could speak, so I love being here!

Growing up I was always around animals, from cats at home, to dogs, horses, cows, donkeys, ducks, etc thanks to my best-family-friends farm.

When I was 19 I started working with dogs in a positive reinforcement, force free, well-being based daycare/ boarding facility for just over 2 years. From there I got hired here at Gateway, and started to pet care at home on the side.

I have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 3 bunnies, 1 Betta and an axolotl. I love my animals with all my heart!!

I really enjoy working with my coworkers. It is such an amazing feeling to be a part of the help to save/ fix these animals. I’m so grateful to be a part of a wonderful team!!
